This Week in AFL Fantasy
In this series, I’m going to give you a run-down of the week in fantasy. Who stays and who goes.
At this stage of the season, I worry more about getting my rookies right that side-ways trading your more pricey players. The reason for this is one game isn’t a trend – and often these players come good (usually just after you’ve rage-traded them out of your team).
Meanwhile, money growth for rookies is always best at the start – each week without the best rookies is money lost (and so the longer it will take you to complete your team).
So if you don’t have the following players in your team, then get them in pronto: Nick Holman, Tim Kelly, Tom Doedee, Tim English, Sam Murray, Bayley Fritsch, Dom Barry and Jeremy Finlayson.
Stay or Trade?
Taylor Adams (71) – He’s too good to be down for long. Keep
Shai Bolton (19) – Shai is a rare rookie who straight off the bat has lost money. Trade
Marcus Bontempelli (68) – One of a number of Bulldogs in this list. I think he will post better scores. Keep
Ryan Burton (19) – I can’t believe he was on my pre-season watch list. Trade
Jack Crisp (64) – His pre-season put me off. He will be a yo-yo this year but can go bigger. Keep
Haydn Crozier (34) – History says this isn’t a one-off event. Trade
Nat Fyfe (67) – Fremantle in general were shocking. I think you can’t keep a champ down long, and he will rebound. Keep
Michael Hibberd (56) – I think it’s a matter of time before he comes good. Keep
Sam Jacobs (75) – Jacobs only looked average against the Don’s. Admittedly, it’s probably the best game I’ve seen Tom Bellchambers play in some time. I expect Jacob’s to come good. Keep
Jason Johannisen (58) – It won’t be the last mediocre score. Trade if you have no bigger predicaments. Trade
Matthew Kreuzer (73) – He appeared to have pulled a groin which hampered him for the rest of the game. Trade
Tom Liberatore (9) – ACL – out for the season. Trade
Toby McLean (68) – It was a rough day all-round for the Dogs. I think he will improve. Keep
Sam Menegola (69) – One game is a small sample size. Keep
Zach Merrett (23) – Zerrett got concussed early in the game. I’m giving the benefit of the doubt that he will be available this week. Keep
Lachlan Murphy (34) – Should still comfortably reach his Break-Even. If he plays, keep him on the bench. Keep
Marc Murphy (68) – Although he’s not getting any younger, he should be back in the swing of things soon. Keep
Daniel Rich (21) – Ruptured an ankle ligament Trade
Mitch Robinson (89) – Has been given a one-week holiday for striking. I would only trade if you can’t salvage adequate cover. Keep
Tom Rockcliff (52) – His change in position is extremely concerning. Still low time on ground and underdone. Trade
Jackson Trengove (31) – Tim English ate his lunch. I’m not sure why you picked him in the first place. Trade
Dayne Zorko (57) – Welcome to the Zorko roller-coaster. One week he has 30 – and 150 the next. Keep
