This Week in AFL Fantasy
Round 12 – Who stays and who goes.
During Round 13 the following teams have their byes: Brisbane, Collingwood, Essendon, Greater Western Sydney, Melbourne and North Melbourne.
However, you have 3 trades instead of two. Only your best 18 scores count during the bye rounds, so try to field 18 players if at all possible.
Both this week and next are the most difficult rounds for most coaches.
Try to trade in Carlton, Gold Coast, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, West Coast, and the Western Bulldogs players as they have already had their byes.
Always go for the rookies with the best job security first with a close eye on their byes. Always check the team sheets to see if they are playing first.
|M. Redman (BYE)||$212,000||DEF||1||92.00||-13|
|J. Smith (BYE)||$199,000||DEF, MID||1||80.00||-9|
|P. Ahern (BYE)||$244,000||MID, FOR||2||71.50||-5|
|T. Smith (BYE)||$323,000||FOR||3||79.70||4|
|B. Mihocek (BYE)||$224,000||DEF||2||58.50||5|
|M. Poholke||$277,000||MID, FOR||6||50.00||5|
|T. Murphy (BYE)||$206,000||DEF, MID||2||49.50||9|
|M. O’Connor||$209,000||DEF, MID||1||56.00||14|
It’s not worth trading out a player with good job security for one with poor job security. Otherwise come bye-rounds you will find it very difficult to field a full side. Job security should be your highest priority.

|T. English||$425,000||FOR, RUC||7||67.60||81|
|C. Polson||$186,000||MID, FOR||2||24.00||39|
|M. Crowden||$270,000||MID, FOR||8||44.00||72|
Noticeable Outs from Injury
Stay or Trade?
Rory Atkins (36) – 14 touches playing on a wing. Never easy at Optus Stadium. Inconsistent player. Keep
Dayne Beams (50) – Beams and Zorko were tagged by Essendon. Zorko managed to get some junk-time touches, but Beams did not. Keep
Angus Brayshaw (47) – Went head-to-head with Phillips. Neither scored well. His bye round, and his break-even (100) is greater than his average. So ripe to trade. Trade
Ben Brown (39) – Blicav’s did a good job on Brown. Power forwards are always inconsistent. Keep
Nathan Brown (19) – Concussed and did not return after half-time. Injured
Josh Caddy (51) – Played as third tall forward on Jonas. Hopefully returns to the midfield. Keep
Matt Crouch (67) – Handballed more than he kicked. Difficult assignment interstate. Keep
Cam Ellis-Yolmen (51) – This is his second poor showing in a row. Keep an eye on him until his bye round and then make a decision. Keep
Brendon Goddard (57) – Wasn’t playing as the general in defence, but rather played on McStay. Should rebound. Keep
Robbie Gray (66) – Starting forward on Grimes. Poor recent form. Keep until the bye rounds are over and make a decision then. Keep
Hugh Greenwood (50) – Had a tough week interstate. Gave away a few frees which didn’t help his score. Some good recent form, so keep. Keep
Dyson Heppell (42) – Ran his head into the shoulder of Hodge. Should be fine after his bye. Keep
Jesse Hogan (53) – Didn’t kick a major and conceded 3 frees. Dunn did a good job on him. High BE (112) following this weeks bye, so is a trade option, but I would probably hold as a unique. Keep
Tom Jonas (56) – Tagging Caddy. I think he will improve against easier opposition. Keep
Rory Lobb (17) – Headclash with Taranto in Q1… and a rib injury in Q2. Check the Injury list. Injured
Tom J. Lynch (32) – It’s a difficult task for any forward when your team kicks 26 points in total. Isn’t renouned in Fantasy, but you have to keep him over the bye rounds. Keep
Jack Martin (50) – Gave away a few frees. Started forward on Haynes. Wasn’t the only Sun to have a poor game. Keep
Toby Nankervis (60) – 27 hit outs with 11 possessions. Posts a poor score from time to time. Keep
Christian Petracca (53) – Hasn’t set the world on fire this year. His BE (86) is greater than his Average (79), and it’s his bye round so I would trade. Trade
Tom Phillips (61) – Matched up on Brayshaw and neither scored well. Bye this week. His BE is close to his average, but he has some upside so I would hold him. Keep
Matthew Scharenberg (48) – Played on Pedersen at half-back. Given his bye and break-even (109) I would look to upgrade him. Trade
Jack Steven (49) – Tagged by Hewett. Leading the inside midfield. Has played some recent good footy so will rebound. Keep
David Swallow (58) – Gave away 4 frees among his 20 touches. Played midfield so should rebound. Keep
Bernie Vince (42) – 3 marks and 14 touches. Given his bye and break-even (89), I would look to upgrade him. Trade
Michael Walters (60) – Starting forward with centre rotations. Reported for striking and will accept a match ban. Given his Round 14 bye, I would consider trading. Trade
Jack Watts (38) – Only kicked it 3 times, and marked twice. Handball happy. You can’t afford luxury trades during the bye rounds. Keep
Lachlan Weller (48) – His team was thumped. Played mainly in defence. Will improve with easier opposition. Keep
Daniel Wells (31) – Left ankle knock in Q2 but still played some part in the game. High break-even following his bye, so trade. Trade
